Monday Muse: Grey Gardens

I re-watched Grey Gardens last week, in the hopes that it would psychically encourage HBO to release the fictionalized version I've heard so much about on DVD. So, if you feel like having a little piece of the film in your home, I found a few things that might bring the Gardens in:

Have a cat (or raccoon) companion without the mess they leave behind.
From HannahBellaMemories, $14

Recapture the moments in the film where Big Edie is singing along with herself, many years earlier.
From RichManVintage, $35

One of the things I really love about the Edies is their ability to magically transform things in a very true DIY fashion. Why buy another wrap skirt when you can make one yourself out of something you already have?
From principessaemicranie, $26.50

At least someone is doing what they want behind this lovely framed portrait.
From jlovesupreme, $9.00

I love the idea of spending all day in a swimsuit. Get Little Edie's lovely look.
From Schmoo1515, $33

Some of my favorite moments in the film are when the camera just pans out across the balcony, and you only see a sea of green foliage. Although Little Edie complains about all the thick foliage, I can't help but think how peaceful it would be to have that kind of view waiting for you every morning.
From inmostlight, $21.00

  2. I am delighted to see my framed portrait on here. I love being taken away by the magic of movies--& then to let them bleed into your day to day life through their lingering images.
Thank you for linking our worlds.

  3. Hi Anne. This is an old post, but I'm commenting anyway. Just had to say your choices are really pretty and I totally agree with you about the cameras panning over the landscape in the film. I don't know why exactly, but I'm loving any blog post about Grey Gardens. I'm regretting not seeing this earlier when it was actually posted. Hope you're well. Best of luck and keep up all of your great work dear girl.
