Thursday Inspiration: The Little White Dress

Although I'm a huge fan of the versatile little black dress, it's summer--so bring on the little white dresses:

Wish List Wednesday: Midcentury Furniture

Although my own particular decorating style is far from minimalist, I do dream about a sleek space of nothing but midcentury pieces in black and natural wood with acres of hardwood floors. So, in my dream world, all of these items are sitting peacefully together in a clean, airy space:

Tuesday Trends: Animal Print

Paired with some basic black, animal print does a whole lot of talking. Although it has a tendency to turn into a royal disaster when one forgets that less can be more, finding classic vintage pieces with a pop of animal print can be a real outfit saver. I found some super chic pieces this week that are sure to add that extra pop to a basic getup:

From Diver, $11

From Ramona West, $59

Monday Muse: Grey Gardens

I re-watched Grey Gardens last week, in the hopes that it would psychically encourage HBO to release the fictionalized version I've heard so much about on DVD. So, if you feel like having a little piece of the film in your home, I found a few things that might bring the Gardens in:

Have a cat (or raccoon) companion without the mess they leave behind.
From HannahBellaMemories, $14

Recapture the moments in the film where Big Edie is singing along with herself, many years earlier.
From RichManVintage, $35

One of the things I really love about the Edies is their ability to magically transform things in a very true DIY fashion. Why buy another wrap skirt when you can make one yourself out of something you already have?
From principessaemicranie, $26.50

At least someone is doing what they want behind this lovely framed portrait.
From jlovesupreme, $9.00

I love the idea of spending all day in a swimsuit. Get Little Edie's lovely look.
From Schmoo1515, $33

Some of my favorite moments in the film are when the camera just pans out across the balcony, and you only see a sea of green foliage. Although Little Edie complains about all the thick foliage, I can't help but think how peaceful it would be to have that kind of view waiting for you every morning.
From inmostlight, $21.00

Undiscovered Sunday: Kristi McMurry

I stumbled across this lovely undiscovered shop today with photographs that joins minuscule forest animals with larger than life daily items. Any of these prints would make a lovely accompaniment to any room, though I'm thinking in particular about how great a few of them would look in a bright kitchen, especially on these technicolor summer days. They're so reasonably priced, too. Be sure to pick one of these sweet prints up.

Sneak Peek: Going to a Party?

What kind of party are you going to this summer?

A cocktail party?

A birthday party?

An outdoor picnic party?

A dinner party?

A wedding reception?

Here's hoping you all have many lovely parties this summer!
